Investment in high-voltage overhead line installation

GA Leitungsbau Süd GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German GAH Group in Heidelberg, has massively expanded its activities in the field of high-voltage overhead line installation. With effect on 1 April 2008, the company will take over FBG-Freileitungsbau GmbH (FBG) based in Walsrode, Germany.

Expansion of Atel's subsidiary GAH Group

In 2007 FBG, with its workforce of around 190, generated annual revenue of EUR 26 million. An experienced full-service provider in the field of high-voltage overhead line installation, FBG brings three new strategic locations to GA Leitungsbau Süd GmbH in the form of the head office in Walsrode (Lower Saxony) and branches in Korbußen (Thüringen) and Bretten (Baden-Württemberg). FBG positions itself not only as a technology leader but also as a specialist in the structural design of pylons and pylon foundations, and in conducting studies and appraisals.

Strong new service company with 270 employees

To further enhance the pooled capabilities and strengths of the two companies, the high-voltage activities of GA Leitungsbau Süd GmbH are to be merged with FBG to create the new corporate brand GA-FBG Freileitungsbau GmbH. The result will be a strong service provider with a workforce of 270, generating revenues of approximately EUR 45 million and capable of delivering first-class high-voltage line installation offerings from a single source – from cable way planning through structural analysis to complete assembly services. The new company's head office will be in Walsrode.

Service provider GA-FBG Freileitungsbau GmbH will be a member of the GAH Group of Heidelberg. With more than 4,500 employees and a nationwide network of more than 25 subsidiaries, 150 branch outlets and offices, the GAH Group is one of the largest and strongest market players in Germany and neighbouring countries.
