The Aare-Tessin Electricity Company Ltd. (Atel) in Olten is increasing its stake in AEM Torino (Azienda Energetica Metropolitana Torino S.p.A.) to 5 per cent. In January 2001, Atel acquired 2.5 per cent of the shares in the Turin municipal energy service provider which are listed on the Milan stock exchange. The move strengthens the relationship between the two energy companies.
